pma_09-logoT&A: In an interview picked up by several media at the Photo Marketing Association (PMA) 2009 convention, which took place from 3-5 March 2009 in Las Vegas, USA, Akira Watanabe, the manager for Olympus Imaging SLR planning department, was quoted as saying that twelve megapixels for cameras are enough to meet the imaging needs of consumers today (unless of course, if you’re referring to full frame cameras).

Similar to how CPU speeds have been argued against bus sizes and memory speeds in a PC environment, the argument that megapixel count isn’t everything in a camera is definitely true. Features, functions and reliability are all elements that make or break the success of a camera today, including low-light shooting capabilities, color reproduction, focus options and dynamic range.
