Public launch of HTC Touch Diamond2 in Singapore, after media events in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand & Indonesia

Singapore's StarHub had a public launch of their HTC Touch Diamond2 offering on 9 May with these two 'raider girls'.
SHOWCASE: Smartphone manufacturer HTC, announced the Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 to the media in countries like Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand during the mid- and end-April period but the availability of the Touch Diamond2 is only made public today (in Singapore at least), while the QWERTY-based Touch Pro2 is expected to hit stores a few weeks later.
Ever since the Touch Diamond was first launched in June 2008 (in Singapore), the strength behind its abstract looks and TouchFLO 3D interface was further echoed when the Touch Pro was later introduced. Both the Touch Diamond2 and Touch Pro2 are follow-ups to those two successful models respectively. For a detailed spec list of these two models in one glance, check it out here.
If you want a quick overview of what exactly the Touch Diamond2 (and Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 6.5 really is all about), here’s a video produced by the HardwareZone Singapore team for you:
The Singapore launch to the media was organized on April 16, while Malaysia had theirs in Kuala Lumpur on April 28 and Thailand launched theirs in Bangkok on April 29. The Singapore price for the Touch Diamond2 is S$1,088 (US$746) while the Touch Pro2 is expected to cost S$1,328 (US$910), while in Malaysia, our Editor tells us that the Touch Diamond2 will cost RM2599 (US$744) with a promotional 2-year warranty at launch (the warranty reverts to a 1-year after the promotion). Our Editor in Thailand tells us that the Touch Diamond2 costs 24,900 baht (US$719 before VAT) while the Touch Pro2 is expected to cost 32,900 baht (US$944 before VAT).
UPDATE 19/05/2009: We’ve just updated the photo gallery with two photos from the HTC Touch Diamond 2 launch in Jakarta, Indonesia as well.
Anyway, here are some snapshots from the four country media launches for the HTC Touch Diamond2 held during the latter half of April 2009 (19 May for Indonesia). We’ve also added some shots from one of Singapore’s mobile telecom operators - StarHub - who launched the Touch Diamond2 to the public at Plaza Singapura shopping mall on May 9. StarHub’s prices for the HTC Touch Diamond2 can be seen here.
- The HTC Touch Diamond2 features the latest HTC TouchFLO 3D interface, single-contact viewing, larger 3.2-inch VGA screen, 5-megapixel camera and 20% longer battery life compared to the Touch Diamond.
- The Touch Diamond2 features HTC's Push Internet, which quickens downloads and Web page renders.

- StarHub launched the HTC Touch Diamond2 in Singapore on 9 May to the public and went with a 'tomb-raiding Digging for Diamonds' concept with these two 'raider girls'.
- Here's one of the girls with a wider shot. At the launch, members of the public were invited to dig a sand-pit in search of 'diamonds'. Apparently, one winner stands a chance to win a Touch Diamond2 every hour from 1pm-7pm over the two-day event.
- Mr. Ng Long Shyang, Head of Consumer Sales (center) from telecom operator StarHub Singapore, was on hand to give away prizes to winners of the "Digging for Diamonds" HTC Touch Diamond2 launch at Plaza Singapura.
- While the HTC Touch Pro2 was announced but not launched yet, discernible differences from the first Touch Pro include the tilt screen function, flushed keys on the keyboard and softer curves.
- Unfortunately, similar to the original Touch Pro, the Touch Pro2 still touts a 3.2-megapixel camera though, when most of us were hoping for a 5-megapixel upgrade.
