SHOWCASE: NEC Asia held its Business and Technology Convention at the Intercontinental Hotel, Singapore earlier today and unveiled new multimedia business products like the NP4100/4100W projector and X461UN Public Display Monitor.

Mr. Vincent Koh, Vice President for the Multimedia Business Platform Unit of NEC Asia opened the convention and emphasized NEC’s committed dedication to eco-friendliness. For example, he shared how some NEC products let users switch to an Eco Mode based on a Carbon Footprint Meter.

The NP4100/4100W are freely tiltable, and offer brightness levels of 6200 and 5500 ANSI lumens respectively. Both models use the 2-lamp system with a 4-segment color wheel. With 2100:1 contrast ratio, these projectors are expected to cost around S$8,000 (USD5,558).

Here's a diagram showing how four NEC NP3250 projectors can be stacked to form an ultra-bright, uninterrupted image on-screen.

One of the highlights of the convention is also the stacking capability of NEC’s NP Installation Series of projectors, such as the NP3250, NP3250W, NP2250 and NP1250.

Basically, what NEC Asia is promoting is the idea of spacing out four of these models across say, an auditorium, so that brightness can be multiplied and redundancy in the event that one projector is not operating.

“Stacking is useful if you want to achieve a high brightness lumens by utilizing four projectors (each with 5,000 ANSI lumens) to get a 20,000 ANSI lumens brightness, at a much lower cost compared to buying one 20,000 ANSI lumens projector,” Koh said.

“You also realize that with stacking, as the projectors are spaced out horizontally, image on-screen isn’t blocked when someone walks past the front of the screen as opposed to relying on just one projector.”

Finally, NEC Asia also unveiled and demonstrated a 46-inch large-format display for video wall solutions. With an ultra-narrow bezel of only 7.3mm, the X461UN has shown a 500-percent improvement from the previous 34mm thickness of the older MultiSync 20 Series displays.

The X461UN, which provides WXGA resolutions at 1360 x 768, supports wall matrices up to 10 x 10 screens, giving a total surface area of about 645 square feet. The screen costs S$14,320 (USD9,948) per unit.
