VIEWPOINT: HWM was fortunate enough to be at the 50th IFA consumer electronics trade fair in Berlin, Germany. The show itself, which runs from 3-7 September, is one of the biggest CE fairs in the world and is often compared with CES and Computex.

One of the highlights of the show is the launch of the Galaxy Tab “smart media device” by Samsung in a special media conference in Berlin on 2 September. HWM managed to record the media Q&A session with key execs from Samsung with regards to the Galaxy Tab. This video was made on September 3.

T&A: Research firm GfK has released a report comparing first quarter of 2009 results for the consumer electronics and home appliance sectors in the Philippines versus previous quarters.

In general, consumer electronics (CE) dropped by 8% in terms of value and 4% in terms of units compared to the same period last year. Only LCD TVs and Portable Media Player (MP3/MP4) posted positive growths of 4.5% and 2.6% in units respectively when comparing month-to-month from May to June 2009.
